    Starting up a new bussiness

Is there anyone who has information on starting a farm business?  I have been on my hobby farm for 7 years and have started the process of starting a small scale business.  I am 100% disabled due to PTSD with TBI and have some congnitive trouble, but I am going to start small and work from there.  I have applied for Voc Rehab, registered with the USDA, read numerous books on small scale farming and business.  I have narrowed my scope to a small start up with vegetables & farm fresh eggs.  I will get that up and running, then start in the meat goat business as my herd grows.  It feels hard for me, I am not from the country, but the city & have little experience.  I am looking for any books, mentorship programs in east central Illinois or west central Indiana, or any information on assstance Thanks

It sounds like you really know what you want. That's awesome!!! I wish I had some info for you since I grew up in the country.  But I will wish you the best of luck.

Couple of thoughts...contact the Grange. Also, Farm Aid. You might want to apply for a Grant and run the farm as a non-profit; if you focus on organic produce and meat you might find some things.

Man, the two hardest things in the world are farming and running your own business. But, first it gets tough, then it gets real, then it gets strange and then it gets...different. Hang in there and see it through.
